ISIHF Standing Amputee Ice Hockey European Championship 2007

Standing Amputee ice hockey is very young sport internationally. First WC-games were held in Finland 2003. Year after, 2004 the games were held at Prague, Czech. 2005 Czech, Russian and Latvian teams competed in Innsbruck, Austria for European Championship. Then again in 2006 the WC-games were played in Latvia.

This year the European Championship games will be played in Finland at the location of Riihimäki 19.-21.4.2007. Four teams will enter this tournament: Czech, Finland, Latvia and Russia. All players are given points from one to three according to their disability and there can be no more than 12 points on the ice in the same time excluding goalie. All players will be qualified by IPC certified doctor Hannu Alaranta before the games.

City of Riihimäki will be hosting and supporting the championships giving icetime, prizes and free swimming hall for entrees. Many local teams are also supporting the event too.

In this tournament every team will play each other once. Games last 3x15minutes and are played according to IIHF rules for women and ISIHF rules with no checking allowed. In each game the best player for both teams will be rewarded. After the tournament the best goalie, best attacker and best defender will be selected.
